Hair Randomness

Yes, Hair Randomness.

I often make up my own words so if you are reading, please excuse my English. So my hair randomness today is more like some new gained knowledge with questions that you as a reader can possibly give me some insight.

I was chatting with a good friend of mine about, you guessed it, hair. We talked about coloring, trimming ends, my dusty brown hair (1B is what they call it, but dusty is what I call it), styling tools, ways to whiten your teeth, and my new blush, as well as BFV (Braxton Family Values) as well as textlaxing, Its an under-processed relaxer, you dont work it or comb it through to get your bone straight, you simply put it on there and what my Mom's stylist say, "play chemist". Textlaxing is still intriguing to me, you put a chemical on your curly hair to relax the curl and not straighten it. Ok I have been victim of the popular Textlaxer, but I never knew that was what I was doing. I just thought I didn't get my hair straight enough or that it didnt take and then I'd wait to do a correction. Now that I know what it is I have been doing this all along and just straightening what was left with heat tools for the straightest look I could get. I loved my hair straight but I adore my the thickness I have after week four from a relaxer.

The styling tools we talked about were the Splitender and the EdgeStick, now, let me say this again I'm a novice on hair care and this is all a current experiment on proper hair care, I'm not paid from these product producers or given anything from them in regards to the products I mention in my blog, these are my thoughts and results from the products I purchase with my own funds.

Now those two tools mentioned, sparked my interest because one, I'm relaxed and two, I stretch my relaxer out to 10 weeks tops. I know, I should try for longer but I didn't because I was using heat tools, my flat iron and hand blow dryer. I know Youch! I took the challenge of using one heat source which was the hooded dryer, I can tell you my hair did not like that one bit, I was frizzed and fluffy, even with serums applied. I really don't like serums unless i'm flat ironing straight. Well since I'm on a break from my heat tools I was thinking, "my edges look so rougher than a mug!" I google'd this morning with "edges or hair" and "touch up", up came the EdgeStick. "What's that" you say, well its essentially a pressing comb that you can use to get super close to your edges to straighten them during the time you are not able to relax your hair. Would I use it, after seeing the Videos on You-tube, no I wouldn't use it, I'll tell you why.

number one it cost 80.00 dollars, do I really want to pay that much for a heat tool that only is for the edges of my hair? While it seems tantalizing to invest I think I will pass on it, only because I can get the same results with a scarf wet-set or some edge control from ORS (organic root stimulator) seriously plus save my money, time and effort for my growth progress.

The Splitender, well I would really like to try this particular gadget, I love gadgets by the way. I told my friend that I don't trust myself with scissors, why is that you may ask? I'm afraid I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to dusting no matter how many you-tube videos I see, I get afraid because I may cut too much off or I might not cut enough off. I might even cause more damage than what I thought I would because I wouldn't be able to get all of the hair that I am supposed to trim.sSo I will be buying this item and using it during my hair care routine.

I guess that's why they call it a journey huh?

So, I'm ordering that today.

We also talked about color. I know color is supposed to be very un-healthy for the hair. but I miss my red hair at times. I remember when I first got into some hair color. My Aunt who happens to be a licensed pro did the color for me as a graduation gift when I visited her in California. I was nice and vibrant, I miss that color and it was only the front of my hair. I do believe I'm going to color it after this sew-in is over and done with. I'll get to the sew-in in a minute. but I will be doing my front in red in the future.Because I like to change up my hair ever so often, I even learned that I get bored with styles quickly.

So, my sew-in, I have it because I wanted it and wanted to challenge myself, however it has some down sides to it, more downs than I expected. I like to feel my scalp, its a sort of comfort to me to able to feel my scalp, call it what you want but I've resolved to take down my Sew-in this weekend. Here is my statement of justification: I'm still itching! yep in spite of moisturizing and sealing and spraying my scalp, not the weave, it still itches. So I will be doing a take down Saturday after all my days events are done.

The Sew-in has given me more issues than a lil bit and while I have an aspiration to color my hair, I take this as a lesson learned, No More Sew-in's for me. And I will be Deep conditioning for a long time since I found Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner and Roux Porosity Control Conditioner. LOVE IT for deep conditioner. That is one thing that I found out, you can almost never go wrong with a conditioner, they are the most flexible product you can purchase for hair care/hair journeys.

Those two mentioned alone have done wonders to my hair before I got my sew in, and I do, respect the people who wear them all the time, but I won't be one of them any longer. gonna find my way back to my roots, pun intended, but really just healthy relaxed roots, can I even say healthy relaxed roots????

Oh for you Make-up lovers I got Sephora Goodies this week, they have a 500 perk point goodie bag, filled with primers, brow-gel, and conceler, if you like make up you will love this goodie bag they have available for perk points trade in, I finally used some of them. :)

The Stila Blush I got, I use as an all over blush its also a grab for 14 dollars at Sephora its called "love at first blush"
