Length Check

Since my good friend brought it to my attention, I never really put a starting photo up of my hair catastrophe, and since I have been heat-free completely from January to March I will put up a few progress photos

This is my starting length Jan 1, 2012

4weeks post

March hair length

You can see the difference in length and texture of my hair. Since I have been air-drying rather than roller setting as I thought I would I see a huge difference in my hair its shinier, a bit more body to it, smoother, not as soft, I'm just saying it feels like hair should feel.

This is a learning experience for me and since i don't do videos, I like to write, well I'd rather write anyway, well I digress. I hope you enjoyed them my daughter took majority of them c:

Product Update: Tangle Teezer

An update on the Tangle Teezer:
My hair is not ripped or broken off from the use of it during detangling sessions after my wash. Hence the name of the product Tangle Teezer, you should only use it during that time when you have your detangler or leave-in conditioner in your hair for added support. So, yep, I still love my hot pink tangle teezer :-D

The product junkie came out in me the other week and I have a confession to make...I'm looking for a growth aid and I found one, Gro Aut (pronounced: Grow Out).

Its a popular oil that is vitamin enriched to promote fast and healthy hair growth. I never used GA's (growth Aid's), so I thought I would give this one a try. I haven't even used "Doo Grow" yet, but I betchu I will (straight faced grin). I ordered it last week on the 15th and am expecting it very soon, hopefully today the 21st.

I have reached full on shoulder length hair since I last did a relaxer and I am 3 months into this healthy hair care journey. I will say this I can not take biotin everyday, and I can not M & S (Moisturize and Seal) twice a day, I think I'm heavy handed with products ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I made a spritz of my own with ORS (organic root stimulator) hair moisturizing lotion. It has the smell of it but I put a little glycerin in and the distilled water in a bottle and shook it up to a loose consistency so that I can spray my new growth. It feels great on my almost 3 week post hair. I"m looking to more progress...

as always

March Regimine tweaks...

Ok its been a minute since I last blogged, I might have to blog more often than once a week.

its been two weeks since my relaxer, and I did an under process. I only let it sit for 10 minutes, and I only smoothed out my edges, sides and nape portions for a smoother look. I loved the ORS relaxer in regular but here's my hang up with my textlax experience. I really didn't see much texture in my hair, i'm guessing its because of the strength of the relaxer. When I say that I mean I didn't play chemist by adding a conditioner or any EVOO to it to loosen its strength.  Maybe I'm just that impatient with my hair, but, I will say this I loved the way it felt after the relaxer experience.

My next relaxer will be end of May 4th for 9 weeks.I'll play chemist next relaxer and add 1/4 of a cup of EVOO to the relaxer and yes I'll use the same relaxer ORS (organic root stimulator) in normal/regular hopefully I still keep some of my texture I'd like to have the best of both worlds when the time comes.

I also have been playing the moisture protein game with my hair trying to find a really good shampoo and conditioner. I have the HE hello Hydration. I don't like it, flat out, I just don't like it the way my hair feels after a wash and condition, even after a co-wash I don't like the feel. I want a smooth feeling with lost of slip. Now, I know the difference between slip and no-slip. Hello Hydration has to be the worse I have experienced since I been taking better care of my hair. It left my hair feeling thirsty. So, I went to my tried and true conditioner Carols Daughter Hair Smoothie in Black Vanilla and it gave it more slip than a lil bit, that's why I love the smoothie conditioner. I will always buy that and keep it on stock. I'm currently using the Carol's Daughter on an emergency basis only when I don't get the slip I want. I'm still using Neutrogena's Daily Deep conditioner, its amazing when heat is added.

Biotin update: I had to stop the biotin, it was causing breakouts and I read others experiences and watched v-logs from you tube as well., I have to say I stopped it about a week ago, because it was causing my hurt to my face than help to my hair to notice any good deeds on my hair, plus I don't want to stress.

Also there will be products to buy, but I'm reducing them as I want to get rid of some products, like the HE hello hydration, I'm so disappointed in that product. I wish it had way more slip to it.

As for my oils this month, I really like Grape-seed oil, besides it have cermacides all through it, I really like the flexibility it has, I used in my pre-poo and as my sealer, So I may end up staying with the grape-seed my hair responds to it really well with lots of shine after a clarifying wash and this was no different, it absorbed the oil with ease. I also used Roux Porosity Control and the trick is, to shake the bottle very well before you apply and only leave it on for the recommended time (30 seconds) It also has a really clean lemony smell to it.

I did purchase some Rosemary essential oil and used it on my daughter for her scalp massage. She loved it and felt that with the sweet almond oil, this was her hot oil treatment for the week and her hair is natural. But she loved it all the warmth of the oil and her scalp just drank it up, there was no run off like when i use the coconut oil. Oils bought at  the Vitamin shoppe they normally have something on sale there.

I have been doing my M & S'ing nightly in four sections and oiling my scalp with coconut oil with a 10 minutes scalp massage, it has calmed me down each night and my scalp feels like its alive. New oil that I purchased in Gro Aut, (pronounced "grow out") I hear that it can give you length in a matter of days, well see, I'm still a strong shoulder length and this has been three months of no direct heat.

Also I have been doing air drying and mini bun's to my hair to leave it alone while its doing its thing. I can tell my hair really likes the air drying cause it holds the shine and doesn't look dry by the end of the week from the wear of the week, looks like I will be air-drying for a while. I like air drying it give me a chance to comb my hair before it gets super dry by the time its time for a shampoo. I will keep my air drying for a while. I've had very small comb-out since I have incorporated the black tea rinse to my hair care routine. I must say this one has stopped a lot, A LOT of the shedding I had and I will keep this up.

I have kicked up my workout schedule to 5 days a week, no I'm not over doing it, cause its only for an hour.and its zumba (dancing) something that I love to do.

As always its about accountability, happy and healthy hair journey

P.S.

I switched up my moisturizer to Elasta QP Mango and Olive Oil Butter for this week, my hair needed a bit of protein, I'll be back on the ORS next week.

Results....

Today I relax, well texlax...
I spent most of my day running around town. But I relaxed tonight well, texlax.
I'll inform you briefly about texlaxing. Its basically not smoothing the hair and having the chemical on for a long period of time. You shorten your process and you don't smooth out the hair.
I had a lot of control this time with application, why? Because I actually used an applicator brush. For the longest I would use the mixing stick and had no control. I can hear you now, what the what????
This time I had much more control than usual. I smoothed out my edges and did no other manipulation.
I did a mid protein after the rinse of the relaxer, which boosted my hair strength and I could feel difference. The Mid Protein was a ORS Replenishing Pak. now mind you I just did a heavy protein, Aphogee 2-step, before I relaxed, so I got my protein and it has been really good so far, it was really dry after the Aphogee 2-step so afterwards I did do a Deep conditioners and M/S'd before bed.. Shampoo neutralized four times and did a quick Roux for porosity control.
My hair felt great! There was no burn during my short process and I did "base" my scalp and hair. What's that mean, "base"? When base your scalp you add a layer of protection to your head, skin and hair. You do this so there is no over processing. All good things.
I even was able to stand a deep condition under the hooded dryer, mine is one of the portable ones. It works though. I looked at my hair after all this process and it still looked bone straight at the root
So I mositurized and during this stage of the damp hair setting, I realized that my hair was longer on one side than the other.
*sigh* that's from my failed attempt to trimm my ends. I don't like scissors because I can't see them all around, my fault but it will grow.
I did recieve my Splitender in the mail so I will trim the ends, next day. (the picture you see of the hair clipped are after the trimming of the ends)

I had a hard time just getting adjusted to the relaxer portion, I do believe the breakage I was having was to due to the long stretch, this is my lesson, DO NOT STRETCH TOO LONG.
This next stretch I will only go 9 weeks and we'll see what happens
I hope to be able to gain a moisture balance and keep my hair habit to maximum I really would like to have healthier hair as well as a healthy me Xoxo Chelleshock32 Hope you enjoy the pictures :D

March Goals...

Here is my list of accountability for the Month of March:

1. Moisturize and Seal every night.
2. Take Biotin twice a day
3. Wear hair up (mostly french rolls cause my hair is shorter now)
4. Scalp Massages with Grape Seed Oil for 10 minutes a night
5. Co-Wash, Co-Wash, Co-Wash... That's three Co-Washes per week, since I started working out more

I drink four 16.9 oz bottles of water a day so I'm not worried about water intake and already take a Multi-Vitamin. lets hope for great goal reaching this month...

I'll be posting these every month and giving results each new month
