Simple Science Juices

Note: all items were not sponsored or gifted, this review is solely my own personal thoughts and opinions sprinkled with a bit of facts.

If you know me or have a foot into the health community, then you probably have juiced before. Right? Well if you have and stopped, or you simply want to pick up a new habit to get your weight-loss kicked off right then, do I have the place for you. It’s a quaint little place set back in a side street, with big shop windows and lots of space, kind of like a receded store that you pass but just never had the chance to go to. And by the way this place happens to be on the Kansas side, wish it was on the Missouri side though. It’s located on one of the busiest streets in Overland Park close, Metcalf and Floyd.

One morning on my way to work I was driving and saw the shop a couple of times all lit up and bright and this one particular day I decided to stop in and take a peek at what was open so early, and at the time they did not have a sign up. To my surprise, because it was so early,  I was greeted with a smile and a warm “hello welcome to Simple Science Juices.” Now me being all into my fitness/health journey this was something that I was interested in and I do not own a juicer or the patience. I talked with the owner Taylor Thompson who was so kind to introduce me to the juices they offered, I was scared. And when I say scared I mean as in “what in the world is all this? You not tricking me into drinking beets are you?”  Well I did needless to say, yes I drank beets, there are 12 juices one is seasonal (Hydro) but AMAZING! All the fruits are fresh, Raw, Organic and cold pressed. Everything that I tasted was really good and I wanted to buy everything but I picked four during the time I was there.
I know I hear your brain asking “what is cold pressed juice and why is it so important?” It is the most nutrient-Rich, chemical free way of getting fruits and veggies into your system, they extract the juice from fruits and veggies kinds of like smashing/pressing it to get the most out the fruit or vegetable, it can be stored up to 30 days in the fridge but Simple Sciences Juices will not last that long in your fridge as they are really good.
They have a nice space and are expanding to the Missouri side as well, 19th and main to be exact but I didn’t find an opening date, but I will keep you posted. I have also been here more than once; just to give is a more thorough review because I feel like just one visit is never enough to give a full review on a place that offers a service. They have two different sizes to choose from the 8oz and the 16 oz, each bottle has a bit of information on it such as health benefits, my favorite happens to be Carbon (apple and carrot) the benefits listed are for promoting clear skin and boosting immunity with Vitamins 1, B6 and C.  A section of 7 drinks makes up what they call custom blends, offering Almond milk in vanilla, chocolate and regular, horchata, Kombucha, alkaline water and cold brew coffee. I’ve not tried the cold brewed coffee yet but I will. They have two juice cleanses as well, which I will be looking into.  They also offer Paleo foods as well, for those that are looking into the food or need for food they do, so its not just all juice even though juice is there main focus but I would say healthy is there overall main focus.
I would definitely go back and have been, not just to see the faces and “hello’s” but it’s all about the juice for me. They are moderately affordable for those who are doing juice fast or cleanses but they do offer more services with the cleanses such as delivery and different juice options, and you can call in your order or place it online if you don’t have a lot of time to spend setting up your cleanse.

Here are just a few I purhcased the first time after Taylor educated me briefly.

Well, I'm back!!

Surprisingly to say, I will be taking this in a new direction and will be getting into the world of PC gaming. I will also post links to my YouTube gaming channel for those who want to keep in the loop with me. I'll also dable in food reviews on places in my City that I love to eat, new and old.

But as for Hair: I finally went natural, it was not a "bandwagon" moment, I really did it! *waving hands in the air like I just do not care.* I had been transitioning for a long while and then decided, "man, this is trying my patience and I'm using far too much product to just detangle my hair."  As I sat crying on the edge of the tub in my bathroom, I then decided to cut off my relaxed ends and just go with it and no longer cared, I called my Mom and then my good friend showed up to help even further. Needless to say I Chopped without worry or care.

Now that a new year is embarking let me be the one to say thank you for staying with me and checking with me and reading and sending me a few messages here and there to encourage me,

Let the games begin :)

Happy New Year!

Goodness Gracious! My end of 2012 was jammed packed with personal life events, but I'm glad I made it to 2013.

So, last you read on my hair journey was about my Brazilian u-part wig. It's still holding up :) and just as flossy as the first time I bought it. It's beginning to shed slightly, I never sealed the wefts but on my next hair buy, I will seal the wefts.

I noticed when I took my hair down to shampoo and deep condition, that I had a lot of hair fall and hair in my drain. Not sure what wrong I'm doing to my hair, but I think it could be hormonal to say the least. I had gotten sick in January needles to say I was slightly dehydrated. So, I uped my water. I drink a lot of water now. It bothers me a bit cause I'm always up and down to the restroom. (lol) So, to combat the hair fall, I got a hair skin and nail vitamin. Solgar, which I purchased myself. I started on last Sunday and I take them with food. For some reason, I do think a good hair, skin and nail vitamin is what every hair journey needs. Although they never tell you that. I hear what you put in your body is what you put out. Maybe its high time I readjust my practices to not only healthy hair habits but to healthy body habits too.

I also did not reach armpit length so its still on for 2013. I'm still gonna goal that length and do it with vitamins this year.

Just to give you some thoughts readers, what do you take to amplify your hair?

November came and went

I have been so busy with work lately I've forgotten a lot of my habits that I promised to commit to.

I got brave and found an easier way to blog on the regular :-)

November: I purchased my very first virgin Brazilian hair and it gorgeous! I Love the hair, absolutely versatile and wonderful to blend with my own hair.
I take my daughter to get het hair braided often, and just happened to be a young woman that has started her hair extension business, we had been talking quite a bit about hair and what possibilities you can do by watching YouTube and learning from other hair stylist. She said, "oh ? I can get that for you if you like."

And from there I found my hair source. For my extensions for the remainder of the year.

With that said I purchased all hair and products, they were not given as gifts or to promote.

I bought a bundle at a time, just to be sure it was what I wanted and of course so I don't go broke and end up with no lights or water lol. I started sewing my first bundle my 16 on the bottom so I can have the layered effect. I sew through the first three rows, for security. Those first three rows were so tight my hand cramped up at grabbing the thread. It took me 6 hours to complete my unit.

It was well worth it!

The unit, you'll see in photos, was heavy in weight.  And is considered the natural straight Brazilian hair. To get the slight waves, I simply co-washed them in.lukewarm water and rinsed them in cold water, then air dried them.

I then applied/sewed 8 clips on to my unit, after I cut my side part out.

I do have a bit of leave out to create the look of natural hair, hey it works :-)
I have been wearing this hair for a month now and it is simply amazing. Thank you Ms. Woods, I can't get enough of it. On my next purchase I will do a more indepth blog about it. November has just been so busy.

I did do a length check before I hid my hair. The length check is the burgandy shirt photo.

The u-part wig is the orange tank shirt collage.

I'll be making one more soon, and that will be my January to February hair.

Life 1.5

Life 1.5

Things that make me happy:

1.       Gadgets. I’m huge on all things techy. Mostly things that I can fit into my purse, which is rather large  now J

2.      Books: I do love a good read these days. And I don’t get to explore as many reads as I’d like to. But I will be doing more

3.      Food: Now I say this even though I’m on a mission to loose weight that I do love to cook. Mostly cooking in the oven is something that I have yet to master.

4.     Parenting: I’m full-time on this one. I will be posting a lot about parenting as I always question myself, “I am I doing what’s right?”

5.      Shoes: I mean that. I have a knack for shoes; ask my friends they have seen some of my shoe collection.

Those are the things that I love to do and enjoy sharing with others. Keep reading and please comment and subscribe.

October Hair Game Plan...

Hey there hair lovers, I’m back full-time now, I have my laptop back...

I digress, I left off on my last hair trip in Micro-links, yes ya’ll Micro-links.
I purchased them with my own self’s money a while back and waited till I could get help with the install. They were a wonderful install but a pain to maintain. I suppose all weaves can be a pain to maintain but, I thought that this one would be the best for me to do while I was still in my growth process. While it kept me semi Heat free I did enjoy the easy “bunning”. It was fun to just be able to do a bun without the hassle of a donut/silk covered sock that I really enjoyed them and contemplated doing them again.

There were two issues that I had with the hair that I purchased. One the color I had ordered a 2, which in hair is black brown, when I got the hair it was very auburn and I had to color it. It took the color and matched my color with ease. Number two: The hair was not in my hair texture. It was so smooth and silky that I kind of ignored that it didn't really match my own texture. I have the natural yaki straight texture but I got away with it just a bit on twist outs. I did enjoy taking the links out, it was soooo very easy to take them out. I just gently pressed them the opposite way that I was back to my neck length hair in no time. *le sigh* I will no longer be seeking out the Micro-link hair extensions well for one the cost is very high and I think I will do better with hiding my hair till the winter is over with a nice U-part wig and a closure, or just the wig.
Here’s what the Micro-links looked like in a braid out.

Now to my sew-in, so I had decided to get my hair in a sew in with an invisible closure. I strongly disliked the closure. STRONG DISLIKE. It seemed cool at first and then I went to shampoo my hair which I didn't like doing either. But I enjoyed my braids my sister in law can braid her some hair. Check out the pattern below.

I had worn my hair like the above photo for a month now and it’s time to relax but I think I will wait, just to be honest. I did a Growth Aid tonight and my choice GA is Gro-Aut. The stuff works for me I will be 13 weeks post relaxer and it was un-comfortable for a while. When I got it braided it was nice and I of course I didn’t have to mess with my own hair except for days I oiled my scalp in essence I will be hiding my hair until the New Year 2013. I just have to get my hair game back together.

I plan to relax 10/6/2012 which will be my 4th relaxer of the year. WOW! I never noticed that all this hair loving I do.  On that note, since I switched to the ORS brand relaxer, I switched to a No-Base relaxer, what’s a No-Base relaxer you ask? It’s a Lye base relaxer that is more gentle on the hair and does not need to be mixed. It also has a longer shelf life than its yang the “no-lye” relaxer. The No-lye relaxer is a harsher type of relaxer for the hair rather than the scalp. So why did I choose to switch it up in the hair game, well one reason was to gain thicker hair, I’ve always had thin hair from the first kit relaxer my Mom applied to my head till last year. It’s gotten a lot healthier appearance than before I plan on doing a couple of snapshots and posting them later.

My plan for October is to get my hair plan in action, gather all my needs to that I can proceed with the plan. I will be using my half wig this month as a whole wig I will take photos of it once its dry from the co-wash I just gave it. It’s got life again J
Hair plan for November to January:
1.   Purchase Hair (Brazilian Hair in lengths 12, 14 and 16) I’ve been looking for some very reasonable sellers and I think I found one.
2.   Purchase a closure

I have all the needed items to create the u-part wig of my desire and will be using clips instead of sewing it to my braided hair. That way I can take off the wig and care for my hair and re-braid if I need to. Well I think that is all the Shenanigans I have been up to with my hair for the past two months and I will not stay away so long next time. In fact I will make blogging a habit. I do not Youtube and I love Instagram, catch me there chelle2707 and until next time…

Happy healthy hair trip

Now experiencing Co-Washing...

Co-Washing: using your Conditioner in place of Shampoo

I wake up late today, I was not in a very happy mood from yesterday. I start my Morning by saying my mantra to keep me focused and to encourage myself. I decide to co-wash this morning after i reached into my hair to SCRATCH! My hair was so dry and poofy, it was just down right sad. I guess my hair was feeling the way I was feeling too. So, I started the co-washing process, blindly reaching for the VO5 moisture milk and the bottle felt heavy, it shouldn't. I open my eyes to see that it's my clarifier :(

I did not want to Clairify, I wanted to Co-wash!  So I rinse my hair without agitation and proceed with the right  stuff, my conditioner. Lesson: Don't have all your products in the shower like I do.

Loved my Co-wash this morning since its hot here, 102 daily to be exact. I can do the Co-Washes in the morning so see how my hair likes it. I can say that it felt instant moisture because of the water mostly but when I rinsed and applied my Roux Porosity Control and co-washed again, did a detangle in the water and conditioner, it felt Abfab! (Absolutely Fabulous). I will pick up the co-washing more and shampooing less this month, it felt so great to have that instant moisture this morning and I am happy to report that I didn't have that much comb-out from the process. My hair felt so smooth and slippery. I loved that feeling, it didn't feel coated to me unlike when I dry Deep Condition.

I ended my Co-wash with moisturizing and sealing and I got ready for work and drove away. I will be 10 weeks post on July 12th. I'm considering going another week but we will see how it goes next week when I update with the Co-Washes, Pictures next time I promise.

Until then Happy hair Adventures

July

July is here time for hot days and even hotter nights. I love the summer, heck I even drive round town with the windows down most of the time (when the temp is not above 95 degrees).

Anyhoo, I have to say I will be having two hair adventures this month. What are they?

Flexi Rods and Gro-Aut.

Recall my last note about doing a Gro-Aut review. Since then I decided to purchase another round of the hair oil for this month and see how my hair does with the GA (Growth Aid) and I'm excited, even more so because I got my Sister in Law to join me on my Adventure.

A lil background on my sister in law "K", she has a very thick strand of hair, I would say she is a 4b type grade of hair almost but her hair is soft to the touch without any product. K's hair is really black, there is not a trace of brown in her hair except when she is out in the sun for too long with her hair uncovered. K's Hair has come a long way for the past month. I'm constantly on her about DC-ing her hair and M & S-ing her hair  before bed, I think I have taught her a good hair habit, at least I hope so. K is so excited and willing to learn and try new things and most of all, willing to let me experiment on her hair, so I will be posting some hair photos of K in the future to show what she has been doing. But K's hair has been doing soooo well. I went to visit her and my Big brother this past weekend and to my amazement, she had on her scarf!!!! And she was not scratching her scalp. I'm so happy for her :) So, I will be posting some random photos of K and what lengths she has achieved.

Now, I was talking about the month of July :) What I plan to do in July is a lot of curls, mostly curls with Flexi Rods. I have yet to purchase any of them so I have been bunning for the remainder of this week in July, which I am tired of doing. I will be flexi Rod-ing and using my GA all this month, I'm happy for new styles and I hope that I can commit to them, the tutorials on-line have been making them look so very easy, I thought the same about roller sets boy was I wrong :|

And to start the month off in a great way, here are the July Hair Goals:

1. Oil scalp with GA (Gro-Aut)
2. Add one co-wash
3. Dry and Wet set Flexi Rods
4. Figure out a use for the left-over GrapeSeed Oil
5. Hair-ducation: Research "Co-Washing"

There I think I covered it for this month. I have been keeping up on my water and which is still 64oz each day. I have been using my QT cups to keep myself on track.(good old .69cents cups). I have lost a bit of weight I have not been to my weigh-in at my Doctors Office yet, but I will post another blog and mention it in  my next hair Adventure.

In the meantime

May Goals Revisted

I didn't commit to my May goals because I was so busy with my personal life that i got caught up, but any way, I will be going to recap my May Goals but in the midst of my Hair Journey I will be also going on a life changing weight-loss journey. Yea I know, you've heard it all before well, Its really different this time. All jokes aside, I got sicker than I thought and looked at some pictures of myself now and thought, "who is this person I'm looking at? I don't recognize her? This really can't be me, I will be completely honest with you all. This is the heaviest I have been and I'm not very comfortable in my skin any more. Sooooo, I'm committing to be fit. Not only for me but for my daughter.

So here goes my May goals

Here are my goals for May:

1. Moisturize and Seal once at night, no matter what.
I actually failed this, because of the fact I got sooooo busy.

2. Sleep in Satin Bonnet.
Winner!!!! GOAL met!!! it was the easiest ones for me to meet

3. DC 2 times a week
I failed this one too, got way too busy to do this.

4. Educational Research: Vegetable Glycerin
I meet this one, see my article about it :-D

Now for June, its about wearing protective styles, I wore nubian twist for two weeks I will be wearing the curls from it for the last week of June, so I will not be having any hair goals for this month to post. I do know that in July I will be wearing more protective styles i just don't know which ones to wear. I've looked at creating a u-part wig, a quick weave with a wig cap, braids and I even thought about cutting it off. I won't go into that one at this moment i will revisit it (cutting off my hair) just not right now.

Off to go Deep Conditon

Happy Hair Adventures
xoxo

June Hair update...

I apologize for the late blogging entry but, I'm here :)

I recently explored for two weeks nubian twist braids. I was a good protective style because I could do it myself Here is what they looked like and yes these are from my Instagram
Nubian Twist
Instagram name: Chelle2707

So, I took them down and wore the curled hair from the braids for about two days, so today I will be deep conditioning my hair for a minute I wont be shampooing because I already shampoo'd my hair for this week.

I will be experimenting with other styles for the summer as I will be getting physically fit  *again*
!!! I COMMIT TO BE FIT !!!

Hair-ducation: Session 1, Topic: Vegetable Glycerin

Vegetable Glycerin...

It has many uses in my educational research for proper hair care, I've found at least three ways to use Vegetable Glycerin. I'll name them

New Growth Moisturizer (hair)
Cleanser (face)
Toothpaste (can you believe that?!?!?)

I have been reading so many articles on vegetable glycerin that I think that I'm ready to try a couple of experiments and find the mix that will work for the ultimate summer moisturizer. I live in the Midwest and there are plenty of humid days in the city, in fact humidity stays at about 60-78 percent in the recent days. Which is perfect for adding vegetable glycerin to your hair care arsenal. I have relaxed hair, so its wonderful during my stretch, it can also be used on natural hair and used while you have braids.

Vegetable Glycerin is a humectant, which means it works very well when moisture is around by becoming a magnet attracting humid/moisture in the air/surroundings. Vegetable glycerin will pull in moisture into the hair shaft creating a moisture home for the hair to keep on thriving, you should now know your hair can not thrive on protein products along, there is always some form of moisture that you will use. In my case I need lots of moisture. You can decide on your personal needs. Below is my spritz that I have been using after the shower. Why after the shower? Remember Vegetable glycerin is a humectant and will draw in moisture to the hair. The steam from the shower actually gets pulled into my hair allowing more moisture to get into the hair shaft. LOVE IT!

***I do have to advise that if you live in dry climates and have no Moisture in your air, the vegetable glycerin will work in reverse and draw in dry air making your hair loose moisture***

hydrating glycerin hair spray recipe:
  • 1 part of pure vegetable glycerin
  • 5 parts of spring water
Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle, shake well. Spritz on hair after showering.

As far as a face cleanser this is what I found to work on my skin and has been making it glow. I love the fact that it has not caused an acne breakout on my face. I use this during a pamper shower day which I have every shampoo day

glycerin mask for a dry and dehydrated skin:
  • 1 tsp glycerin
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp milk (i used condensed milk)
  • 1 tsbp spring water
  • 1 tbsp oatmeal
Mix well. Apply to clean face for 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Toothpaste, the third way I have used it, I had to mix it with other things but found that it had the same effects as my regular toothpaste. Well I still have my teeth to say the least :D I ran out of toothpaste and this is what I came up with...
Homemade glycerin toothpaste recipe:
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp pure vegetable glycerin
  • 1 tbsp hydrogen peroxide
  • a few drops of your favourite essential oil (I use peppermint.).
Mix the ingredients well. Store in a small bowl. I used the mini glad bowls, my teeth get the whitening power and they feel great.
What are some ways that you have found multiple uses for products that you have in your stash?
I'm so glad I found you Vegetable glycerin :D

Hair Randomness 2.0...

I know its been a while since I last blogged about my hair adventures, I have no excuses though, I have literally been busy.

I missed my shampoo day last Saturday, I had a family gathering to go to this past weekend, and it was fun bonding with my Big Brother while watching the Mayweather/Cotto Fight, which was awesome by the way.

So I shampoo'd Wednesday, I'm finally done with HE Hello Hydration and boy am I glad about that. I used Aphogee Deep Moisturizing Shampoo this time and when I shampoo'd my hair in the shower it didn't give it that squeaky clean feeling, which I really don't like having since I have been sulfate free in my shampoo's, except this one. I also had to dust (dust is less than a trim type of hair cut) my ends, I found my first split end on Monday and I just put it off till Wednesday.

Experience: Aphogee Moisturizing shampoo, is thin in consistency and has the smell of the salon. (ya'll know what a hair salon smells like) it lathers well after the 2nd time if you do three shampoo's. After the Shampoo I could feel my hair feeling like hair, not like mush which I often experience when shampooing in the shower. (it may be the product being shampoo'd out, I am heavy handed when it comes to M & S-ing) So I finished my rinse and then I noticed something one side of my hair, my right side, felt rough to touch, like it was very frizzy in the shower after the shampoo, I don't understand that. I then applied Roux Porosity and then DC'd with Elasta QP DPR-11+, then cool water rinsed. my Hair still felt as though it had moisture but there was this right side of my hair that felt frizzy to touch. I then towel blot my hair, its still not dry, stopped to look at my hair it looked nice on the left side. but horribly short and frizzy on the right side. After my first trim  my ends looked like that I wonder if it has something to do with the actual scissors. But my hair still felt like hair should feel not overly soft and mushy to the touch. I applied my leave-ins and did a two strand twist out on my hair, which looks fabo today. I have it pushed to the side for some added style. I think I will try and maintain the style for a couple more days. I overall liked the shampoo I can see its usage being very high as it is a moisture based product.

It was my first shampoo since I got rid of that awful Hello Hydration from Herbal Essences. but I think my hair may need a moisture break. The reason I say this is because it took a really long time for my hair to air dry. What does that mean, well it means that the hair is holding moisture like never before which is a good thing but it took a long time to air dry. I'm ok with that,it was just an observation and I would say that its a tell-tell sign that you are doing the right thing, but add some protein, this weekend I plan to co-wash and to a Keratin Treatment, which I will tell you all about in my next entry.

Hair buys this week:
Wild Growth Oil
straight hair pins
large wig clips

Relaxer #2

I decided to relax last night,I actually had time to do it after my daughter got her hair braided. Her hair has gotten so long, I would say her hair is MBL (Mid Back Length) when straightened, and APL (arm pit length) when her tight curl is loose. my hair is flirting with SL (Shoulder Length) and into CBL (Collarbone Length)....but I'm happy with my progress :)

A Tale of Two DC’s (Deep Conditioner’s)

A Tale of Two DC’s (Deep Conditioner’s)

I am on the hunt for the two best Deep Conditioner’s; one for moisture and one for protein. Let me explain why use two separate ones in the first place. Hair needs the both of these to thrive as well as grow longer. To the hair novice, like yours truly, doesn’t even know how to DC (Deep Condition) and let alone the reason for it. To reach healthier hair heights you have to assess your ability to retain moisture, so that hair doesn’t snap off and break thus making a cycle of short hair that is not healthy.

As I have been reading the hair forums, hair blogs and hair books; I found that the more moisture you give your hair the more it will stay on your head and the hair needs moisture, think of it like a garden and the garden needs to grow and thrive to become greener and lush. Well hair is much like that. Gardens also get special treatments such as herbal growth to supplement its growth as well as regular trimmings and weeding. Your hair is your garden; you should tend to it regularly with DC’s.

DC’s are the hair’s way of keeping the growth and ending the snapping cycle, which is better known as Breakage. Breakage occurs when there is no moisture in the hair or from rough handling, since rough handling happens at times why not reduce the breakage by adding the easier one by DC-ing the hair. This is not only a step in prevention of dry hair but it enhances your chances in gaining the hair goal you want.  I found out by accident that I like to DC because it decreases comb-out and breakage for me, the hardest part was finding a DC that I really loved. My goal was to find a product that allows maximum slip.
What is “Slip”, slip in the hair care world is the characteristic of how the hair feels when you finger comb or comb the hair with the product of your choice. Slip in products allow the hair to move freely without breakage when using combs, the fingers or combs actually “slip” through the hair during the conditioning process or detangling process.

Trial one was with Neutrogena Daily Deep Conditioner
This particular Conditioner left a lot of slip while I combed through to distribute in my hair. While it’s labeled to be a daily deep conditioner, if used daily it can cause serious product build up. The slip is amazing, the product is thick in consistency and it smelled good to me as well.  But this was not my main choice, I would add it to other conditioners to add slip to them but not my main DC.

Next was Elasta QP DPR-11+, Medium slip and medium to thick consistency. I like this one much more. I have been using this one for the past three months after the Neutrogena ran out and love it more because it didn’t leave my hair wanting more. A little goes a long way, you don’t need to coat with excessive product on your hair, this will make you rinse more than you want to, but to each his own. I did like this one because it gave me more moisture than ever, I sat with my heat cap on for an hour, I fell asleep using the heating cap, my hair felt amazingly hydrated, it felt like it took a big drink of water and held on to it. I will be using this product for the remainder of my hair journey.

The final one I chose was the ORS hair Mayo.

This particular DC, some say can give you protein overload. I have heard of it but never experienced it because I use plenty of moisture only products. But, Why this one? Why not a light protein? I found my hair feeling like it was in between limp and strong in some areas, no one wants hair that is on the fence.  Its not actually Mayonnaise, it’s a lot of protein in it and it gives it the needed boost for strength for maintaining healthy strands. My experience was about the same with any DC, a little goes a long way, I found that out the hard way while washing my shower comb from the DC.
It is potent so if you use heat, which I always do,  use it for a shorter time to DC with it. It has slip, which I like more cause when you have slip, it allows your hair to just be easily manipulated without breakage or damage.

Monthly Goal: May...

Since last month was pretty much inconsistent for me I need to raise my consistency again. This month will be very busy for me, I'll keep my goals short and sweet this time around.

Here are my goals for May:

1. Moisturize and Seal once at night, no matter what.
2. Sleep in Satin Bonnet.
3. DC 2 times a week
4. Educational Research: Vegetable Glycerin

I'm currently 9 weeks post relaxer and I'm seriously thinking that I should not stretch any further than 9 weeks at this time, I'm scared to go beyond it really I am. I hope to get my  Gro Aut post up soon.

Monthly recap...

While its been a minute since I posted something about my hair adventures. I have to get business out of the way first. Here goes the April goals revealed:

1. Moisturize and Seal every other day (here's that modification I was talking about)

I did the modifcation but it left my hair wanting more than a little bit, I noticed that I am also heavy handed with the ORS-HL (organic root stimulator Hair Lotion) and stingy on the coconut oil. I some how have to find a nice balance between the two, but none the less I met the goal, it just didn't work for me.

2. Take fish oil and multi vitamin once a day. I slacked off a lot this last month.

I was happy about this goal, I met it! Taking this supplement not only made my hair shine but I lost 2 lbs while taking it :)

3. Co-wash twice a week. I met this last month because of my exercise schedule

I was not consistent with this goal, I exercised on average twice a week but ignored my hair for co-washing, honestly I was just too tired after my workout's and taking care of my daughter, so this was a goal I didn't meet.

4. Add in Growth Aid. I picked Gro Aut. I ordered some last month to test and see if it will speed up my growth.

Gro Aut was a success, I have another post for this, in general as of now I met this goal and I excited to write another post about it :)

So with the April hair goals out of the way I will be posting my new goals for the month of May, I will more than likely repeat one of these as I think that it has helped me with my maintenance of my hair and keeping my regimen strong. Goal length for me this year is APL, arm pit length. Currently I am at CBL/SL (collar bone length/ Shoulder length) which was my first goal, so I'm aiming high for a length I have never been in my whole relaxed hair life, why should I just be confined to chin length, ear length or shoulder length hair. Hey, I want health hair too!!!

If it ain't broke...

Then don't fix it!

I was feeling my new growth today, not to be confused with the term "naps" and noticed something. My hair is having a "bad hair day". Man I seen it coming when I didn't set my bun with the pudding (pudding- not to be confused with gel, pudding contains more moisture base products and does what gel does but doesn't leave the drying feeling), but I thought that i could get over the fact that my hair was not cooperating this morning to be styled in an up-do, instead I opted for the high pony tail even though my pony tail is more like a bunnies tail.

I feel like its time I get my heat back, I no longer like roller setting my hair, its a pain, I no longer like using setting lotion and I strongly believe I have hard water.*sigh* what is a girl to do, I know I can heat style safely after I shampoo, I just have to use my hooded dryer to dry my hair. I can tell you one thing I can feel some breakage in my hair from the under-processed relaxer. I think, no, I know that I will relax regularly when it is time, right now I'm 7 weeks post since I did the under processing. I don't think tex-laxing is for me...so lets keep growing

Early Shampoo...

My Wednesdays are getting more horrible as the years pass, but I need to be optimistic, so in lieu of my horrible Wednesday I treated myself and my hair.

I was sulking on my couch thinking of things to do to occupy my time. So I went to my local beauty supply store (aka: lbss) I walk in and see a beautiful standing hair dryer that is not near on sale enough for this kitchen beautician to purchase but I strolled through the isle looking for Elasta QP and some hair lotion. I came across ORS's line for hair repair, mind you I'm there to get Elasta QP, I was in need of protein for my hair.

ORS has this line of HairRepair conditioners, and I liked the fact that they are putting in natural ingredients into their products. So I picked up the Deep Conditioning treatment, the one with Banana Extract in it as well as 6 different fingernail design paints, specifically for designing. I was only there for Hair products, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well.

So, I get home and realize that I need to clarify, since I have not purchased a good chelating-poo yet, they are expensive even if you have a job.

What are chelating-poo's you may ask, they are not clarifiers, they do more than remove product build up, they remove the mineral deposits on your hair and scalp as well as product removal. so you get a two in one. which is something I need to get. To get the short understanding of Clarifying-poo's and Chelating Poos', the Chelating is a two-for and the Clarify is just the one. So I clarified, which only removes product build up as I briefly mentioned.

I was walking to my bedroom to get started and noticed that I will be going back to heat free for short stint, because of my Graduation!!! yay!!! and my life after undergrad is slow motion. I did a clarifying poo got the the Hair Repair from ORS, and man it smells sooooooo delicious and I love it!!!! I hope the other products smell the same. I got these from ORS in the mail the other day and I was too excited about that and hopeful too.

THE EXPERIENCE: The deep conditioning treatment was like a spa treatment, but at home, it was thick and had the smell of the tropics and bananas, just yummy smelling all together. after the cool water rinse I was not only able to run my fingers through my hair without any comb out, but it looked so smooth and soft. mind you most of ORS treatments have some type of protein in it. Did I mention that it smelled delicious? Smelled yummy in fact. This had hydrolyzed wheat proteins in the mix, but it gave my hair the right amount of protein. I then proceeded to set my hair for an air dry in a low ponytail and put my scarf on the top of my head before bed to give me my flat look, I M & S right after I rinse so I know I'm locking in double the moisture when I apply coconut oil.

I also bought a book "Hair Rehab," and I'm just reading it so far but it talks about conditioning step in taking care of your hair and getting it back into shape. Mostly conditioning and which one is best for your hair to get it back in proper shape, I will be doing the "detox" soon. Shout out to Ms Audry Davis-Sivasothy for creating the hair care bibles, I needed them.

Check them out to learn more about your hair care and what you should know about how you treat it. Treat is well and it will well treat you.
